THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Red Door Restaurant Review:
Chef Troy Graves (Eve), with partners Christopher Peckat and Fei Tang, took over this recognizable corner spot in Bucktown --- now even more distinctive due to its red door. Dimly lit by candles and a red neon sign, the cozy interior is ideal for sipping the bourbon-based cocktails. Graves offers an eclectic menu with cool combinations like roasted bone marrow and escargots, lamb neck and Sloppy Joes, and wild boar and schnitzel. Go for the massive Moroccan braised turkey leg when it’s available, and ask for a knife to facilitate sharing. Ricotta gnocchi is another possibility, as are delicately handled, seasonal vegetables. Sweet offering are minimal, but a local-cheese plate features extra end-of-meal meats like smoked goose and homemade mortadella. During warm weather, the large outdoor patio packs in crowds for a Champagne-fueled brunch.
