This used to be the scene of the wet T-shirt contests in the legendary wild-and-crazy Aspen of the Seventies. Those contests are history; but still the Red Onion remains one of those get down ski town kind of places with a long well-worn bar populated by a mix of worker bees and nostalgic tourists. The eats are cheap and what you expect in a place like this---Mexican fajitas, chili rellenos, French onion soup, bacon-avocado-turkey sandwiches, sandwich, and a nightly steak special for $15. The type of steak varies according to whatever I get a good deal on, says the manager, a16 oz T-bone for example.
