Owned by Specialty Restaurants, which counts a brisk banquet trade and venues with great views among its trademarks, The Reef’s Long Beach Harbor location is always busy. The kitchen specializes in steakhouse classics and fresh seafood, beginning with a list of appetizers like calamari with spicy marinara and jumbo lump crab cake with rum pineapple chili sauce. For larger plates, choose from one of the chef's daily creations or items such as filet mignon topped with lump crab, asparagus and béarnaise sauce, prime rib or sesame seared ahi with wasabi mashed potatoes. The lunchtime crowd can dig into sandwiches, burgers and lighter fare like coconut shrimp. The Reef staff does a good job with events as well, from corporate functions to wedding receptions.
