Roam Artisan Burgers Restaurant Review:
Roam proudly uses what its owners call "mindful" components to craft towering, satisfying burgers on diverse locally custom-baked buns or wrapped in lettuce leaves. Signature styles include the zesty Tejano (patty, pepperjack, jalapeño relish, avocado, tomato, tortilla chips and ranch dressing) and powerhouse Sunny Side (patty, aged white cheddar, caramelized onions, seasonal greens, tomato, sweet chili sauce and over-easy egg). Or choose from among dozens of sauces and other toppings; patty options (ground fresh daily, never frozen) include grass-fed beef, free-range turkey, house-made organic veggie (containing quinoa, brown rice, beets and dates) and pastured bison. Sides include crispy squash-onion haystacks and hearty sweet potato fries. A meal unto itself is the bounteous Farmers' Market Salad. House-made prickly pear and caramelized pineapple sodas pair well with burgers; kombucha and wine are both on tap. Save room for a Straus Family Creamery organic ice cream shake; the coconut and Blue Bottle Coffee versions are show-stoppers. Also located at 1923 Fillmore St., San Francisco, 415-800-7801; and 23 Lafayette Cir., Lafayette, 925-385-0798.
