Rosine's Restaurant Review:
Rosine’s is a 30-year-old Monterey standby with a loyal local following. Hearty portions swim against the tide of trendy concepts and tiny plates, usually successfully. Salad dressings and sauces are made in house. Half-size and mini portions of some dishes are available. The tome of a diner-style menu tries to include something for everyone, but dishes are at their best when they highlight the owners' Italian heritage. We recommend the pasta selections --- the marinara sauce from a family recipe is tasty; the unfortunately named "Sicilian Breaded Meat" is in fact a piece of braciola --- and it's really, really good. Rosine's is known for its mile-high slices of cake and flaky-crusted pies for dessert, all lovingly made by the real Rosine, whose family carries on her traditions in the other menu items and front of house. Service is friendly and consistently cheerful.
