This Ruby's Dinner outpost is located directly across from the exclusive Montage Laguna Beach. Well-heeled families with well-dressed kids crowd this burger joint for both lunch and dinner, so be prepared to wait for a table during rush hours. Kids and adults alike delight in the house favorite: an old-fashioned burger with a side of fries and a cherry Coke or old-fashioned chocolate shake. There’s also more contemporary and healthy fare like salads and sandwiches along with hot dogs, soups and chili if you're not in the mood for burgers. Though the chain is a mere quarter of a century old, the original Ruby's was housed in a 1940s-era bait shack at the end of Newport’s Balboa Pier, and all of the 40 or so locations maintain a retro feeling and down-home service.
