THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Ruffino's Cafe Restaurant Review:
Chef-owner Andrew Lord, an American who grew up in Italy, runs this cozy high-ceilinged restaurant with whitewashed walls, bold gallery art and stylish blue-and-white striped banquettes and chairs. The menu offers many familiar items---calamari fritti, veal chop and scampi---plus fish and several solid risotto renditions. Pastas such as fettuccine with lobster and Cognac sauce, and rigatoni with porcini mushrooms in tomato cream sauce are consistently excellent and the affable, CIA-trained Lord does a marvelous job with more ambitious dishes such as rare breast of duck served with a confit-style leg, with balsamic vinegar and tarragon. For dessert, dont miss a bowl of miniature orange madeleines, fresh from the oven.
