Sadaharu Aoki Restaurant Review:
At this fashionable pâtisserie of Tokyo-born Sadaharu Aoki --- the sleek, narrow original boutique sits just steps from Luxembourg Gardens --- traditional Asian flavors like matcha (green tea), yuzu, wasabi and black sesame are incorporated into traditional French pastries. The tarts and napoleons are striking, as are the dark chocolate-encased macarons (“chocorons”) and the eye-popping rows of rectangular “bonbons maquillage” in glossy colors reminiscent of a high-end cosmetics counter. The citron praliné, a dome coated with what appears like yellow felt, hides white chocolate mousse, a lemon-hazelnut macaron and a praline base for a unique, multi-textured experience. You can even find some gourmet ice cream sandwiches at Aoki.
