Saint & Second Restaurant Review:
Situated on the west end of Long Beach’s Belmont Shore district, this venue’s wood façade and airy, multi-level design create a warm and inviting atmosphere with a contemporary edge. Guests might ascend to the second-level outdoor patio to enjoy a smartly composed cocktail and the view of the neighborhood. On the menu, former 555 Steakhouse executive chef Shelly Bojorquez offers a satisfying, seasonal mix of New American dishes. Duck meatballs with a shallot and hoisin glaze are a good starter, as is the cherry barbecue pork drumsticks. Salads run from healthy fare like one with arugula and quinoa to hearty versions such as the Cobb with Duroc slab bacon and fried chicken. Entrées include plancha-seared New York steak with confit garlic butter and IPA-battered fish and chips. The donuts and coffee dessert is share-worthy in size, though it’s likely you’ll want to hoard it. Those visiting the restaurant at lunchtime will see an expanded sandwich selection. At brunch, expect more plays on traditional weekend eats, such as tri-tip hash and crab, lobster and bacon Benedict.
