Preceded by the reputation of its downtown sister restaurant, this Sala Thai should be the source of some excellent Thai dishes, but alas, that is not the case. The special of soft-shell crabs yielded crabs that were not crispy and lacked assertive flavors; the stir-fried roasted duck was fatty; and the seafood combination was the only dish that saved the day. Filled with a medley of shellfish, it satisfied a Thai craving with right-on flavors. With so many outstanding Thai restaurants in Virginia, we found this one lacking; but the DC location is a pleaser.
