THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Saltwater Restaurant Review:
Michael Mina's signature lobster potpie is the ultimate in sinful food. Two pounds of lobster with heirloom vegetables, such as tiny fingerling turnips and baby carrots, topped with rich pastry is a must for diners at his restaurant in the MGM Grand Detroit. The potpie is deconstructed at the table and built back up again. But you can also try the Michigan beer-battered fish ‘n’ chips when the mood for something less sophisticated strikes. Other finds include sweet stuffed prawns and foie gras served with brioche. The creative menu allows for interesting grazing. There's a caviar parfait, a tartare of ahi with tuna so fresh that at first glance it looks like freshly chopped tomatoes, and a mussels soufflé---a staple item carried over from Mina's other restaurants. Be sure to save room for dessert, such as molten chocolate cake. Celebrate with a taste of Chartogne Taillet Cuvée Michael Mina, the restaurant group’s exclusive blend of Champagne. It’s a fine way to begin and end an evening.
