Sam Woo BBQ Restaurant Review:
In the old days, all Las Vegas Chinese restaurants were more New York in style. Now, most of the best places are branches from California, and Sam Woo has been doing good barbecued pork, duck and chicken in Los Angeles and other California cities as well as in Canada for years. This one is in the heart of Las Vegas' contemporary-styled Chinatown west of the Strip, where ducks on spits and CASH ONLY signs greet diners who don’t seem to mind. The expansive menu has more than enough to satisfy every taste. Among a dozen barbecue choices, the three delicacy combo (pork, chicken and roast duck) is a favorite, as is the house special war wonton among the 24 noodle soups and 10 non-noodle soups. There are numerous lo mein selections, chow meins and fried rice dishes. Among seafood entrées, we like the clams with black bean sauce. There is also an array of shrimp, beef, chicken, pork, hot pot, porridge, Taiwanese and vegetable dishes. Desserts such as green or red bean and lotus seed ice are served in parfait glasses.
