SanSai Japanese Grill Restaurant Review:
We're sometimes leery of sushi served in a fast-food format, but this burgeoning chain instills confidence with its sleek, shiny design --- neon lights, granite tables, plasma TVs, colorful walls --- and smooth service. The rolls are actually as good as at some full-service places, although the traditional sushi is more akin to grocery store versions. In addition to sushi, the menu features curry and tempura bowls and mightily addictive meat-filled gyoza. SanSai "plates" are a real value, heaped with a choice of proteins like spicy chicken, pork loin, steak or shrimp, and served with a choice of two rotating salads, rice, a vegetable skewer, and as much spicy ponzu and scallion-based sauce as one could want. Bottom line: While it's no substitute for a Japanese sit-down restaurant, the value and good quality make for a solid choice.
