Saravanaas Restaurant Review:

Saravanaas specializes in south Indian fare, particularly dosas --- a crispy, pancake-like bread folded around ingredients such as lentils, potatoes, dried chilies and cheese --- that Indians all over the Subcontinent enjoy eating for breakfast. Not that you should only eat here in the morning. Novices should start out with the masala dosa, the most common type and filled with mildly spiced potatoes. For a strong kick, the Mysore dosa is a thinly pressed version with super spicy chutney. All dosas are accompanied by coconut and onion chutneys. Service can be brusque at this no-frills eatery in the center of “Curry Hill,” and don’t even think of showing up near closing time, lest you want to be pushed out the door halfway through dinner.
