Satay Restaurant Review:
For decades, chef Foo Swasdee’s eatery has commanded a coterie of loyal followers for its playfully flavored and deftly executed South Asian specialties. Classic Thai soups like the tom kha gai with coconut milk and the richer laska noodle soup with chicken and curry are sinus-clearing and restorative. Don’t overlook the restaurant's namesake appetizer prepared with healthful chicken breast marinated in a curry coconut milk and quickly grilled on a skewer. Spice fanatics should steer toward the pud ped ga-prao with beef, basil and chili peppers. Seasonal menus, Thai New Year entertainment, and happy hour deals keep the environment lively. The kao-neaw dum, black rice pudding dressed in a coconut cream sauce, is dark and satisfying. Post meal, check out Satay's next-door to-go shop, which carries Asian ceramics, cookware, candles and sauces.
