Pasta dominates a good chunk of Semolina’s menu, but there is a wide range of international appetizers and entrées as well. Each item is identified on the menu by country, sometimes stating the obvious (like tagging chicken enchilada pasta as Mexican or Malibu beach salad as American). There are a few unusual items, too, like Java Pork Chops (from, yes, Java) and Shrimp Bangkok (shrimp with basil, cilantro, garlic, black beans and fresh chiles simmered in a soy-infused broth with vermicelli noodles). Also from Bangkok, the popular Thai dish pad Thai, a sweet and spicy stir-fry of shrimp, shiitake mushrooms, tofu and crushed peanuts with noodles and covered with fresh mung bean sprouts, carrot sticks and cilantro. In the mood for entertainment? All items are cooked on a stage that dominates the dining area.
