THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Side Street Cafe Restaurant Review:
Located just a quiet block from the beach, Side Street Café is Steven Millers latest move through the local restaurant scene. Miller teams with high-end caterer James Johnson and Katie Scott, whose Montecito Confections bakery goods are a marvel. Theres attentive service, and a good all-around menu that includes lobster, grilled prawns over saffron angel hair pasta with vegetables, beef tenderloin with sautéed Maui onions and sea bass with a light salsa sauce and potatoes. You have a choice of the pleasant, informal main room or the patio, where you can catch some rays or eat in the shade. Another plus: Theres parking right outside the door. Miller has good wine moxie. Ask for his Infusion Chardonnay. Miller knows his fish too. Save room for Katies heavenly desserts, such as raspberry swirl cheesecake, Halekulani cake, using the famed Hawaiian hotels recipe, and her own killer carrot cake, all at low prices.
