Simmzy's Long Beach Restaurant Review:
With a similar design aesthetic of exposed wood, chalkboards and filament light bulbs, this outpost of the Simmzy’s brand is at least three times the size of the original Manhattan Beach location. Large windows allow plenty of light, and communal tables create a neighborly setting. Start with the caramelized cauliflower with cilantro pesto or something basic like shoestring fries smothered in house-made blue cheese dressing. Simple but well-executed ahi tartare is mixed with avocado, scallions and spicy soy dressing. A handful of salads are available, too, but it’s the burgers and sandwiches that deliver. The namesake burger is a flavorful beef patty topped with onions, cheddar, garlic aïoli and tomato, while the tuna sandwich is made with olive oil-poached ahi layered with pickled grapes and cucumber. Dessert is limited to apple donuts and a warm chocolate brownie. There are 10 wines "by the barrel" and close to 40 rotating craft beer taps, which primarily feature local breweries.
