THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Skewer Restaurant Review:
Although it’s located in a strip mall in commercial-heavy East Memphis, Skewer retains a bit of a romantic vibe with dim lighting and a clean ambience, thanks to light wood walls. Patrons can build their own dinner plates by selecting small yakitori (meats and vegetables grilled on bamboo sticks) from the à la carte menu to create a full meal. Choices range from beef tenderloin, crab stick and chicken meatballs to tofu covered in sweet chili-peanut sauce, quail eggs and king oyster mushrooms. If the yakitori choices are overwhelming, Skewer offers pre-combined “sets” --- plates with the chef’s selection of yakitori, sushi and nigiri, and one is vegetarian. Ramen bowls are made with soba, udon or yellow noodles and a variety of broths, including miso and pork broth. There’s even a vegan ramen bowl made with a soy-miso broth and soba noodles. The restaurant's sole dessert is green tea ice cream. Skewer serves beer, but no wine or liquor.
