Slice Pizzeria Restaurant Review:
This Garden District eatery sauces, tops, and then bakes-to-order each pizza slice; whole pies are available, too. With relatively thin crusts, the pizza registers in style somewhere between New York and Chicago, and the toppings range from traditional (pepperoni, Italian sausage, garlic) to moderately gourmet (eggplant, olive pesto, Gorgonzola). As you’re in New Orleans, don’t be surprised by the alligator sausage pie. The vegan slice is finished with iceberg lettuce, summer tomatoes and payloads of basil. In addition to the pizza, there’s a caprese salad and daily specials that could include chilled melon soup, seared grouper and andouille sausage ragoût. There are plates to share like meatballs, barbecued shrimp, mussels and more, as well as pastas and generously portioned po' boys. Among the specialty drinks, sample Cajun iced tea. The limited wine list consists of fewer than a dozen bottles, but every Wednesday bottles are half price.
