Social Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review:
The robin’s egg blue exterior and the retro country-meets-urban interior with exposed duct work, mismatched wood plank walls, brick, metal and wall art create a welcoming feel. Chef Zack Sklar’s comfort food is beyond any meatloaf your mom might have made. Menu favorites include crispy Brussels sprouts with almonds, capers, chopped parsley and garlic; barramundi with crispy noodles, capers, olives, spicy tomatoes and lemon; and Creole shrimp, andouille and eggplant casserole. For dessert, try the banana pudding or the warm donuts sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. There’s a long list of domestic and international wines and the beer line-up offers local microbrews like Triomphe Belgian-style IPA from Brewery Vivant in Grand Rapids. Expect imported beers, too, as well as ciders such as Angry Orchard and specialty drinks.
