Social Tap Ventura Restaurant Review:

Located just one block from the beach, Social Tap Ventura has an industrial, classic brewpub feel with roll-up doors and seating inside and out. Two dozen beers are on tap and there are plenty of large-screen TVs for sports-watching. You'll find the usual suspects on the menu, like nachos, fried calamari, tacos and burritos, even ratatouille. Chili is made in-house and topped with manchego cheese and served with tortilla chips rather than soda crackers or bread. Wrap up your meal with cheesecake finished with a salted caramel bourbon sauce; it's sticky and sweet, but satisfying. Sunday brunch is an option as well. Preparation and presentation have suffered since the departure of founding chef Adrien Nieto, who rose to national fame as runner-up on the FOX TV show "MasterChef,” but the eatery still works as a casual spot.
