Southern Hospitality
Barbecue haunt serving ribs and pub food in Hell's Kitchen.
Southern Hospitality Restaurant Review:
Southern Hospitality is a barbecue place on the corner of 45th Street and Ninth Avenue, easily spotted by the crowds waiting to get in. Choose from special Southern cocktails (sweet tea martini, watermelon moonshine) and traditional ones from the full bar, plus wines and draft beer. Portions are gargantuan, so bring a hearty appetite or a friend to share. Cherry wood-smoked, dry-rubbed baby-back ribs are offered by the piece, so meaty one or two will satisfy. Also from the smoker are St. Louis ribs, black pepper brisket, chicken, pulled pork and spicy links (sausages). Don’t miss the Tennessee buttermilk-fried chicken with spicy black pepper honey, hot sauce and pickled string beans. Side orders include fries, baked beans, coleslaw, mac ‘n’ cheese and grits. S’mores, pecan pie and red velvet cake are desserts. As you might expect, this pub grub is moderately priced.
