Spanish Flower Mexican Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Yes, Lady Gaga ate here, but Spanish Flowers Mexican Restaurant is one of Houston’s most popular 24-hour eateries, thanks to the authentic Tex-Mex meals made with fresh ingredients from the farmers market just down the road. The building, with its sprawling patios, fountains and gardens, is more a Disney version of old Mexico. Salsa is made fresh twice daily and there’s always a simmering pot of mole or chili con queso on the stove. Entrées (served between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m.) start with a complimentary bowl of caldito (soup) and end with a slice of palate-cleansing fresh fruit. We like enchiladas de mole and the mole poblano, a tender chicken breast smothered in the rich chocolaty sauce. Both come with hearty helpings of fluffy Spanish rice and refried beans. There’s even a children’s menu and pancakes usually make an appearance on Sunday mornings.
