SpOt Gourmet Burgers Restaurant Review:

Even in a town filled to the gastropub gills with aspirational patties, SpOt Gourmet Burgers stakes a claim as having one of the best. The popular Drexel University campus food truck offers a brick and mortar experience in a Girard Avenue storefront. Don’t expect bells and whistles or even comfort --- décor is absolutely spare, with a few small tables in front, a counter along the open kitchen and a couple high-tops tucked in the back. As it should be, these burgers are meant to be devoured without fanfare. Meats are ground and butchered to order. The luscious sirloin (or chicken or veggie patty) comes in prefab combos such as Korean chile sauce, pickled daikon and grilled onions (Umami) and American cheese, bacon, grilled onions, jalapeño peppers, ranch and barbecue sauces (Rodeo), or make your own. A selection of pork sandwiches riffs on the South Philly classic. Or try the SpOt Original Jawn, a steak sandwich with sliced rib-eye, sloppy joe meat, fries, cheese Whiz and house sauce. Hand-cut fries fulfill all french fry dreams. There are also hot dogs and Bassett’s shakes as well as fountain sodas. Bring your own beer or wine and cash (no credit cards accepted).
