THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Station Restaurant Review:
The space currently occupied by Station has been unfriendly to restaurants in the past, but this East Quogue eatery appears to be here to stay. Owners Rafe Worthington and Marina Rutherfurd have concentrated on giving the place a cozy atmosphere that manages to be both homey and elegant. Meanwhile, partner and chef Lucia Soria brings her native Argentine cuisine to the menu, with dishes like broken potatoes with criolla salsa and grilled baby octopus. Not all dishes hail from South America; in fact, in its third year, Station moved closer to an American flavor tinged with Middle Eastern spices. The menu features grilled zucchini with burnt tomatoes and herbs, fattoush bread salad with pomegranate, lentil stew with burrata and a Station burger. Desserts feature dark chocolate cake and lemon verbena sorbet. The portion sizes are uncharacteristically small for the area, though quality makes up for it. The drinks menu is varied, too, and features cocktails --- known as “Jollifications” --- and a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle, including a few North Fork picks.
