STATS Brewpub Restaurant Review:
In late 2017, STATS evolved into a brewpub, with Austin Edwards as brewmaster. The place boasts 70 HD TVs, not all tuned to the same event. So at or near the bar, you can decide which of nearly a dozen different matches to watch. Several tables, usually reserved for six or more --- although if the place isn't busy they'll break the rule --- are rigged with personal taps, so guests may pour their own brews on draught by the ounce, and the technology calculates the tab. We enjoyed a flight of four beers, and recommend the Bushwood IPA and the Redzone Amber Ale. Brews also appear as ingredients in some dishes, such as the pimento cheese that tops one of the burgers. Nachos, piled high on a platter, easily start a meal for four hungry folks. Also good are the crispy pork ribs, smoked at STATS' sister operation, Twin Smokers BBQ, down the street, then fried here and doused in barbecue sauce (we suggest ordering the sauce on the side so you can dip them). House-cured pastrami makes a great sandwich, and the portion is generous enough for two. Tasty tomato-flecked collard greens make an ideal side. Dessert is bread puddings with ice cream or a carrot cake. Sips include cocktails and a brief wine list. Outdoor seating is on a rooftop deck.
