Surin of Thailand Restaurant Review:
Crowds of all ages wait eagerly outside Surin of Thailand’s doors, anticipating its opening, and the dining room fills quickly with hungry customers. Wood floors and a pressed tin ceiling do nothing to muffle the din. Searingly spicy larb, tempered with cabbage leaves, and the fresh basil rolls are our favorite starters. Or begin a meal by sharing the Thai sausage atop a bed of cucumbers dressed with sweetened vinegar; this even makes a fine light main dish. The uniquely flavored ka proud lamb is seasoned with a Thai herb that’s similar to basil, while barbecued chicken served with shrimp-topped fried rice offers value. Desserts include ice cream, a chocolate brownie sundae and a so-so crème brûlée. Pair your meal with a beer selection. Lunchtime, with the sun streaming through the windows, is especially pleasant.
