Sushi Simon Restaurant Review:
In any nation's cuisine there's food that's overpriced, and there's food worth almost any price, and this romantic, contemporary sushi hideaway has both. Locals who are sushi/sashimi sophisticates know to skip the regular menu's extensive list of makis, mostly the same sort of tasty but overwrought novelty rolls found everywhere for a lower price, for artfully prepared nightly specials featuring sparkling-fresh (sometimes still wriggling) local catches plus pristine flown-in seafood. Boston Fluke Morimoto (quickly torch-seared fluke, a more delicate flounder relative, with spicy mayo, ponzu and cilantro); paper-thin slices of meaty local mutton snapper, arranged around a mound of tobiko-topped spicy tuna tartare to resemble an exotic flower; buttery slices of otoro (top-grade tuna belly) with fresh-grated wasabi root (worlds different than the usual reconstituted powder): Few except inexperienced sushi/sashimi eaters would find Simon's prices anything but good value for such rare finds.
