Tajima East Village Restaurant Review:
Tajima, the San Diego-based mini-chain of Japanese restaurants, has expanded with a branch in the East Village. Exposed wood beams, brickwork and subway tiles bring an industrial touch to the small, casual space, which offers seating at booths, communal tables and smaller tables. There is also a bar stocked with local and Japanese beers, wine and sake. The menu offers five variations of ramen: original tonkotsu, tajima (tonkotsu plus pork belly, fried garlic, chives and bean sprouts), spicy sesame, curry and vegan. Patrons can customize their orders by selecting their desired noodles or adding extra toppings. Also available are appetizers, like tempura Brussels sprouts, along with rice bowls, such as spicy tuna with spicy mayonnaise, green onion and seaweed. Overall, Tajima presents a great value for Japanese comfort food. Other locations.
