THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Talay Restaurant Review:
Chef King Phojanakong regains his crown with this west Harlem eatery. Located on the hard-to-find Twelfth Avenue and 135th Street intersection, Talay is set among a row of hip eateries. But this place distinguishes itself---not necessarily because of massive dragon statues out in front. The menu, a fusion of Thai and Latin cuisines, has several standouts. Tender baby-back ribs are punctuated with lemon grass and garlic. Crispy shrimps sit atop gooey good plantains. The whole red snapper is nicely done---crispy on the outside (and not overly fried) and moist and flaky on the inside. Sometimes it’s hard to decipher where the Thai ends and the Latin begins, but in the end, your taste buds won’t care.
