Talula's Daily Restaurant Review:
Talula's Daily is a counterpart to owner Aimee Olexy's popular gourmet café-bakery in Kennett Square. The Daily also serves as a kind of casual dining companion to its neighbor in Washington Square's handsome Ayer building, Talula's Garden, an upscale American restaurant Olexy co-owns with Stephen Starr. Talula's Daily starts the day with coffee, scones, muffins and pastries for breakfast, and moves on to a range of sandwiches, salads, soups and entrées such as chicken salad on focaccia, wild mushroom risotto, stuffed pork shops, and kasha and bowties for a sit-down or take-out lunch. At night, you can reserve a table for a five-course, $55 Supper Club experience. The latter's monthly changing menu might include curly kale soup with herb yogurt, crispy lamb shoulder with feta-orange vinaigrette, a world cheese tour and a chocolate-caramel brownie for dessert. With its farmhouse table and mismatched furniture, Talula's Daily offers a cozy spot to escape from the bustle of big city life.
