Talula's Garden Restaurant Review:
With an indoor/outdoor space right on Washington Square, Talula’s Garden invites lingering. An urban extension of Aimee Olexy’s Kennett Square establishment, Talula’s Table, in partnership with Starr Restaurants, this venture delivers garden-to-plate dishes, seasonal tastes that might include a curried sweet potato soup with candied local apples and cilantro yogurt, or pan-fried rainbow trout over a griddled potato cake with bacon, broccoli and horseradish cream. Although chefs have come and gone, current executive chef Charles Parker brings skill to the table, having honed his craft at the Culinary Institute of America and restaurants in Los Angeles, Australia and Atlanta. Save plenty of room for cheese --- there's an entire farmhouse table devoted to artisanal selections with fun groupings like Not Your Granny's - Six New Takes on Tradition featuring Milkwood Springs Organic Blue, among others. The farm-to-bar cocktails and wine list are courtesy of consultant Dan Westiner. We like the Portuguese rosé. And for dessert, do try the "little" sweet ricotta donuts.
