The first-rate hot dogs are, of course, the meat of the issue at this spic-and-span stand, but if your taste runs toward garden-in-a-bun red hots, Tasty Dog is your Eden. A nimble-fingered line of servers piles on mustard, relish, onion, lettuce, cucumber, pickle, tomato and hot pepper with abandon; it’s a lot like getting a free salad with your dog. The sit-down hot dog stand has plenty of indoor tables and counter seats, and on summer days, wilted commuters hop off the El and take refuge in the picnic area.
