Tavern on Grand Restaurant Review:
It’s typical “Up North” décor (think antler chandeliers, mounted trophy fish, wall murals of birch trees and blue lakes) that makes this place the perfect setting for eating a plate (or basket) full of Minnesotan’s favorite fish: walleye. Sure, the walleye they’re famous for here is really from Canada. But hey, it’s still walleye---and the Tavern serves up some of the best-tasting (and best-priced) in the city. Between the basket and the Shore Lunch we can never decide, so we usually go with both and share. The former gets you a bunch of hot fish deep-fried in the restaurant’s secret batter along with a pile of spicy-crisp fries; the latter (with potatoes and vegetables) gives you more walleye flavor---it’s grilled and seasoned nicely just like Mom used to make it.
