Thelewala Restaurant Review:
Set on a street near NYU that is flanked by hard-to-take-seriously quick bite ethnic eateries, this Indian street food spot is an exception. Thelewala, with just a small handful of stools and a counter on which to eat, serves up street snacks that pack a flavorful, subcontinental punch. The menu is short but nearly everything is worth trying at least once. Chicken malai roll comes with cumin, coriander and egg, wrapped up in a piece of naan; ask for it spicy and be prepared to delightfully singe your taste buds. There’s also some good chaat --- Indian “nachos,” if you will --- on offer, a pile of potatoes, chickpeas, onions and chutney on top of puffed rice.
