Trailhead Brewing Co. Restaurant Review:
In keeping with its setting at the southern end of a historic business district, Trailhead is a throwback --- to the 1990s, that is --- when microbreweries were restaurants that brewed their own beer. A lunchtime mix of tourists, families, business types and beer lovers happily intermingle over burgers and chicken wings. Bookending the beer menu are Riverboat Raspberry for the novice and Old Courthouse stout for the connoisseur, but the signature Trailblazer ale pairs best with the menu, especially when it’s an ingredient (as in the peel-and-eat shrimp, beer cheese soup or the beer-battered cod sandwich). The prime rib from the dinner menu fits better into a beer budget at lunch, when it’s served with melted cheese on an onion roll. Those who have to get back to work often opt to end the meal with coffee and a sweet dessert like Key lime pie.
