Trattoria Farfalla Restaurant Review:
This cozy, brick-walled trattoria is the classic neighborhood Italian joint, a place Los Feliz locals have made their second home for years. The menu is familiar but not boring, with starters like calamari fritti, beef carpaccio and polenta with wild mushroom sauce. Satisfying pastas include farfalle with salmon and peas in vodka-infused pink sauce, and pumpkin ravioli in a walnut and cream sauce. Main courses range from thinly sliced veal in different sauces to bistecca Fiorentina. Thin-crusted pizzas are also recommendable. Desserts include tiramisu and torta della nonna, a ricotta cheesecake. If you are more inclined for snacks like salami and prosciutto, cheeses and a wide choice of wines by the glass, check out the adjoining Vinoteca Wine Bar (1968 Hillhurst Ave., 323-661-8070).
