Tropics Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:
While the view is terrific and the cocktails potent---don't miss the guava mojito, and, if you want to go the nostalgic route, order a Blue Hawaii which was created at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in the 1950s---the food is well worth noting. Most all-day dining spots in a resort don't focus on offering locally sourced products, but Tropics does. The mushroom and goat cheese flatbread features Hamakua mushrooms and goat cheese, both from the Big Island, and you can enjoy the goat cheese for breakfast in a savory quiche as well. The furikake and beer battered fish 'n’ chips are perennial favorites as are the guava-glazed barbecue pork ribs. The crowd shifts according to the time of day with families grabbing breakfast in the morning to a lively mix of cocktail and pupu hounds enjoying the live entertainment in the balmy climes of a tropical evening.
