Txikito Restaurant Review:
Txikito (pronounced chee-kee-toe) is a Basque-style tapas spot from the winning team of Alex Raij and Eder Montero, who are also behind El Quinto Pino and La Vara. A welcoming bar is the first thing patrons will notice, and it's a fitting introduction to this intimate space. The lumber-lined interior is warm, spacious and elegant, owing to the high ceilings and the wide glass rolling garage door at the front. The txiki txanpi, miniature mushroom and shrimp grilled cheese sandwiches, are flavorful and nicely toasted. The txitxiki features a spicy chorizo hash surrounded by crispy, buttery bread, and the pulpo, a tender octopus carpaccio, is drizzled with olive and lemon oils and a dash of hot pepper. Pil pil, salt cod poached in olive oil with kokotxas (cod cheeks), and albondigas (meatballs) should also not be missed. No worries, though --- the portions are small, you'll be able to try many. And it's all best washed down with a glass of wine from the Spain-dominated wine list. Desserts might include chocolate flan.
