Varuni Napoli Pizza Artisans Restaurant Review:
This Krog Street Market outpost of Varuni Napoli is a simple, mostly bar-seating operation that turns out the same delicious pizzas Atlantans have come to enjoy at its original spot in the Clear Creek Shopping Center. Luca Varuni came to Atlanta from his native Napoli to work for another pizza maker, but shortly split from the owner. Although the menu is smaller than the one at the original location, several dishes are only available here, such as the fried stuffed pizza, a market special. We also like the classic margherita and the Oro Bianco, meaning "white gold," a pie with a blend of cheeses including ricotta bufala. Patrons who don't care for pizza may opt for a salad. Expect some basic, decent wines, but the reds that go well with the pizza are served too warm. The place is also very proud of its Negroni. We think it's better to have a draft Peroni.
