China Poblano Restaurant Review:

As its name indicates, China Poblano in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas offers Chinese and Mexican cuisine. In the hands of chef José Andrés (The Bazaar by José Andrés in Beverly Hills, Jaleo in Washington D.C. and Vegas, among others), this East-West summit is light, modern and creative (not to mention a good value). Likewise, the setting is colorful and joyous, with rosy lanterns and bicycle wheels hanging from the ceiling. (Request a booth or seat along the wall, as the stools around the central tables offer no back support.)

One side of the exhibition kitchen turns out Chinese dishes, while the other cooks up the South of the Border specialties. Come for one dish on your own or feast with family and friends on small plates like tacos, queso fundido with melted Menonita cheese and tequila blanco, or Kao Lao Lao (steamed boat noodles with dipping sauce). The fun tone of the restaurant even carries over to the menu, which lists dishes with humorous names like the "Silencio," a taco made with duck tongue and fresh lychee. End your meal on a note of whimsy with the chocolate terra cotta warriors. The wide range of beverages includes a limited wine selection, beers, cocktails such as Andrés' "Salt Air" margarita, and a comprehensive tea list.
