THIS RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED NAMES Gordon Ramsay at The London West Hollywood Restaurant Review:
After filming his "Hell's Kitchen" show for many years in the City of Angels, Gordon Ramsay, attracted by the glitter of Hollywood, opened this restaurant just off Sunset at The London West Hollywood, formerly the Bel Age hotel. In contrast to the name of his show, the eponymous restaurant is rather heavenly. The hillside dining room boasts views of the city from the large windows dressed with gold blinds. The designer lavished attention on every detail, creating an elegant and modern atmosphere in gray, gold and white tones. Marble tabletops complement the floor and are surrounded by chairs and banquettes in different shapes and textures. Ramsay's team has found the right way to please the palates of Angelenos with upscale, casual cuisine rather than a fine dining experience. Lobster coconut soup offers a hint of lemon grass, wood-roasted lamb porterhouse steak comes with merguez sausage and mustard cream, and braised pork belly mingles with scallop and manila clams. Try the Meyer lemon tart with huckleberry coulis. The wine list offers about 700 labels, including many old-world white wines to complement the dishes. Afternoon tea and all-day dining is available at the Boxwood Café, which occupies the front area of the restaurant.
