The Vineyard Rose Restaurant Review:
Temecula's South Coast Winery has stepped up the level of both food and wine in this up-and-coming corner of California's wine world. The Vineyard Rose boasts architecture with high-vaulted ceilings and elaborate woodwork, and harvest colors also contribute to the tone. Guest can relax and nibble in the bar area, stretch out in a booth, or enjoy alfresco dining on the spacious veranda. Giant hanging flower pots and twinkle lights add to the ambiance outside, while the halcyon views of the mountains, vineyard and waterfall lend a romantic vibe. Appetizers like shrimp and scallop ceviche in Key lime juice, blue crab cakes in a beurre blanc or heirloom tomato salad are the beginnings of a fine meal. Memorable entrées include prosciutto-wrapped John Dory with quinoa and mustard greens, heritage pork chops served with a fennel potato hash, or succulent Angus beef filet mignon on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert, there's a blood orange torte and caramelized pineapple cheesecake, among other offerings. An extensive list of estate wines are available by the glass, as well as California wines by the bottle.
