THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Wagon Wheel Saloon Restaurant Review:
Sitting on the corner of one of the busiest intersections in the region, the Wheel is an unassuming, friendly spot with Abe Lincolns head plastered all over the exterior and oh-so-American dishes inside. Hamburgers, corned beef sandwiches, BLTs and pizza share the menu with potato skins, lasagna, ribs, fish and chips, and homemade meatloaf. On a cold night, the circular fireplace in the main dining room warms the crowd. Antiques scattered throughout the place include old stained-glass windows and unique light fixtures, including designs by Tiffany Studios, John LaFarge and Handel. The brick walls were reclaimed mostly from the Grand Trunk/Western Railroad station demolished years ago in downtown Detroit. The stuffed moose was the largest one captured in one of Michigans northern counties. It weighed 1,500 pounds and stood more than six feet at the shoulder.
