Wasabi Lobby Restaurant Review:
It’s easy to find creative sushi spots in Manhattan, but this Upper East Side Japanese fusion restaurant often outshines even some of the masters of sushi and other notables in TriBeCa and the Lower East Side. Try the New Age sashimi, which is just that: rich pieces of tuna and salmon matched with secret sauces. Rolls with tantalizing names like Sex in the Lobby or Lover’s Roll are inventive combinations, all attractively presented. For the less adventurous, typical sushi and sashimi sit side-by-side with their fusion counterparts. The menu is updated often, with such inventive dishes as lobster coconut chowder and the Sunrise Roll with salmon tempura, avocado inside and fresh salmon on top, and spicy sauce. There's also a good happy hour, with five-dollar cocktails and a long list of appetizers at equally reasonable prices. A lovely cold-saké menu is offered as well.
