Water Street Brewery Restaurant Review:
Water Street Brewery has been brewing handcrafted beers at its Water Street location since 1987; you can count a Bavarian Hefeweizen, amber, pale ale, porter and a couple of lagers among its suds. Hearty sandwiches and interesting pizzas (including barbecue chicken and grilled portobello with Gorgonzola) fill out half the menu; the other side mixes it up with jambalaya, an old-world sausage platter with sauerkraut and potato salad and chicken enchiladas. This is the place to try a Scotch egg---a hard-boiled egg wrapped in pork sausage, deep fried, placed atop a bed of mesclun greens, garnished with diced red pepper and served with brown mustard on the side. Check out the restaurant's historic beer and brewing artifacts on display, too. Call ahead and make arrangements to take a tour of the brewing process.
