Weiler’s Original Northridge Delicatessen Restaurant Review:
Deep in the Valley, about a mile from Cal State Northridge, is this very reliable deli (sometimes overshadowed by nearby Brent’s) that has maintained a Valley presence since 1962. If you’re looking for traditional kosher-style deli faves, Weiler’s turns out quality pastrami, corned beef and brisket sandwiches, lox and chicken liver salad. The pastrami and rye are layered between slices of crusty rye, and like any respectable deli, the menu is huge. You’ll find burgers, potpies, fried chicken and even tacos. A better-than-average bakery turns out good cheesecakes, éclairs and addictive rugelach. As a bonus, the staff is much friendlier than at some delis on the other side of the hill.
