Woodlands Grill at Barnsley Gardens Restaurant Review:
Woodlands Grill’s dining room and screened-in porch provide a view of the rolling north Georgia landscape while overlooking the resort’s golf course. Under the expert guidance of its landscape gardener, vegetables and herbs have been planted for the restaurant’s use, but we’ve always wondered why this posh property failed to tap into the local and regional cuisine movement, although it has made occasional nods. Woodlands Grill is chiefly successful as a steak establishment, but with the arrival of executive chef Adam Hayes that should all change. A breakfast buffet is available on Saturdays and Sundays; we suggest sticking with the breakfast menu for the moment until Hayes can get some attention focused on its contents. Woodlands' wine list ranges between popular brands and very expensive cult wines, but we’ve experienced reds served too warm from time to time. Perhaps now some north Georgia wines and Georgia craft brews will find spots on the list.
