Yefsi Estiatorio Restaurant Review:

White-washed and woody inside with a quieter open-air garden, the welcoming Yefsi Estiatorio earns high marks in a neighborhood generally devoid of gastronomic significance. The menu offers Greek mezedes along with dishes from chef Christos Christou’s native Cyprus. Yefsi’s signature chips made of zucchini and eggplant are ideal for dipping into the mild, creamy tzatziki. Standards such as the horiatiki (Greek salad) are fresh and seasoned just enough to give them a distinctive personality. Tangy grilled halloumi cheese from Cyprus and the jumbo lump crab cakes with mustard aïoli are a welcome and unusual surprise. Seafood choices as well as baby lamb chops pair well with their accompaniments of giant lima beans and saucy green beans. Desserts add a final sweet note, with moist karidopita walnut cake and baklava. A nice selection of Greek wine is featured, from the relatively rough retsina to the more refined Agiorgitiko and Assyrtiko Sauvignon Blanc.
